Screening of  Respiro  by Emanuele Crialese (2002) followed by a convivial Sicilian snack.

For the 5th edition of Lausanne Méditerranées, Pro Senectute Vaud and la Cinémathèque suisse will take you on a journey to Lampedusa to discover this fishing island off the coast of Sicily and meet Grazia, a young, independent and free-spirited mother. Her whimsical, affectionate personality upsets the village community, who suggest to her husband that she should leave the island… Between legend and resilience, this film paints a sincere and touching portrait of its protagonist who, like the sea, is unpredictable, turbulent and cannot be tamed.

At the end of the screening, a Sicilian snack concocted by Si Mangia! will be served to enhance discussion of the film.
