AUTUMN IN LAUSANNE

The leaves turn yellow and orange and fall at the same pace as the temperature… Summer is drifting away and autumn is settling in, bringing with it shorter but still bright days. Often unloved, this season nevertheless reveals a unique atmosphere, in its colors and flavors.

Here are some ideas to make the most of the gems offered by autumn.

AN AUTUMN DIVE IN THE HEART OF THE JORAT WOODS: NATURE, LEGENDS AND ADVENTURES

Let yourself be amazed by the flamboyant colors and the unique atmosphere of autumn in the Jorat woods. This enchanting place, a true setting of nature preserved at the gates of the city, houses the Jorat Natural Park, classified as a national important site since 2021. In addition to its exceptional biodiversity and breathtaking landscapes, the Jorat forest is steeped in legendary history.  Les Frères Brigands (The Bandit Brothers) invite you to relive this era through one of their immersive adventures. “In the heart of the forest” is an adventure that immerses you in this fascinating past and allows you to discover the emblematic places of the forest in a fun and family way. Find all the information on their website.

GOURMET WORKSHOPS TO BRIGHTEN UP YOUR AUTUMN DAYS

If the weather is not ideal for a walk outside, why not participate in a culinary workshop? Le Fraisier offers several culinary workshops including, at the moment, thematic sessions centered around the fall that are perfect for discovering new flavors and sharpening your creativity. Another great option is MARUtCHA, which will take you to Japan for an evening with workshops centered around tea and Japanese culture.

Le Fraisier, Ruelle Grand Saint-Jean 9, 1003 Lausanne, Mon.-Sat. from 10am to 4pm, Friday evenings 6:30pm to 11pm

MARUtCHA, Rue de la Grotte 4, 1003 Lausanne, Mon. 10am to 6pm, Tue.-Fri. 10am to 7pm, Sat. 11:30am to 6pm.

JAZZ & DINNER EVENINGS AT CAFÉ ST. PIERRE WITH THE EJMA

When the rain and cold set in, there is nothing like an evening of jazz to help warm up. Every Tuesday, the Café St. Pierre invites you to enjoy “Jazz & Dine” evenings, where you can enjoy a delicious meal to the sound of jazzy rhythms. These evenings are offered in collaboration with the talented musicians of the EJMA.

Café St.Pierre, Place Benjamin Constant 1, 1003 Lausanne, Mon. 8am to 11pm, Tue.-Fri. 8am to midnight, Sat. 10am to midnight and Tue. 10am to 6pm

Autumn is not only a season of bright colors and warm atmosphere, it is also rich in flavors. Lausanne restaurants celebrate this period with exquisite chasse (wild game) menus that will delight all palates.

THE MONT-SUR-LAUSANNE L’AUBERGE COMMUNALE

At the Auberge Communale du Mont-sur-Lausanne, let yourself be tempted by the chasse menu with emblematic dishes such as deer atriaux (pork liver sausage encased in caul) with lingonberry or their Wellington-style deer Pithiviers (stuffed puff pastry pies). A menu with authentic flavors that sublimate the season along with options which will satisfy vegetarians!

The Auberge Communale du Mont-sur-Lausanne, Place du Petit Mont 4, 1052 Le Mont sur Lausanne, Tue.-Fri. 11:45am to 3:30pm – 6:30pm to 11pm, Saturday evening 6:30pm to 11 pm.

L’appart

L’Appart offers a refined chasse menu, where each dish is carefully prepared to offer a touch of modernity to the autumnal tradition while remaining focused on the products made available to the artisans with whom they collaborate. Here too, vegetarians will be pleased with their options.

L’Appart, Rue du Bourg 29, 1003 Lausanne, Tue.-Sat. 6:45pm to midnight

Pinte Besson

And for lovers of relaxed conviviality, the Pinte Besson combines the authenticity of chasse with warm moments centered around fondue. A “gunless hunter’s” dish is also offered for people who don’t prefer meat.

Pinte Besson, Rue de l’Ale 4, 1003 Lausanne, Mon.-Sat. 09:30am to midnight

SWEETNESS THAT WARMS THE HEART

To wake up gently or after a rainy day, let yourself be tempted by a Pumpkin Spice from l’Académie café.
